Sujia started training with us two years ago as an 8 year old. She didn’t have a physical sport that she was playing; she told us her sport was chess. For Sujia’s parents, it was just important that she created a base level of athleticism so that she could pick any sport she was interested in and excel.
Fast forward two years and boy, can she pick any sport she wants and be the best athlete on the field. She has slowly built up these skills. When she started, she had no technique: her arms flailed, her knees didn’t drive forward, she didn’t understand her center of gravity, and she showed signs of injury risk as she grew older. Now? Her form is almost flawless. She could teach high school athletes a thing or two.
Here are Sujia’s laser-timed evaluation numbers then vs. now:
10 yard dash: 2.40 – 1.98
20 yard dash: 4.28 – 3.68
Vertical jump: 12″ – 21.5″
5-10-5 agility: 6.88 – 5.51
You probably don’t understand these numbers exactly, but I will tell you this as a coach for almost 14 years: if you’re 10 years old and can run that fast and jump that high, you’re an anomaly. You are in the 99th percentile.
From Sujia’s parents: “”After just three months of training at Parisi Speed School, we saw significant improvements in Sujia’s athletic abilities. Her agility, speed, and strength quickly improved, and we were amazed by the progress.
Over a year of training, not only have her athletic abilities continued to improve, but what has been most noticeable is the dramatic change in her physical conditioning. Her body composition and shape have changed noticeably, now more aligned with an athlete’s physique. Before joining Parisi, Sujia had been training in soccer for two years (twice a week for practice, plus weekend games), but we didn’t see this kind of progress from that experience. The results from Parisi Speed School have truly surprised us and exceeded our expectations.
Now, nearly two years into training, Sujia’s physical conditioning continues to improve, and we are excited to see how much better she gets. We are confident that these changes will have a lasting impact on her sports future and overall life skills.
Sujia also absolutely loves the training—it’s truly her “happy hour.” She enjoys working with the coaches and the other athletes, and she always leaves the sessions feeling motivated, happy, and energized. It’s wonderful to see her so excited to train each week!”
Sujia’s blueprint has been simple: she trains 12-15 sessions per month for the last two years. She takes some time off in the summer, but otherwise, she trains. If you want to be a great athlete at any age, if you want to play at continually higher levels, you need to be athletic. You need to train that skill. Sujia has created a skill from 8-10 years old that she will carry with her the rest of her life. When children this young learn how to move like this, they don’t forget. She is explosive, fast, and more agile than most kids 2-4 years older than she is.
Sujia will be moving up a level soon in our program, and getting out onto the track in the spring. She learned to run with us, and that’s a sport she’s gravitated to. Our coaches are eager to see her continued growth in the gym and, most importantly, out on the track and field where she can showcase her newfound talents!
